People talk about how to do this and that in Internet marketing, but this time around I’ll be talking about my own foray into that world. To let you know that it doesn’t take a genius to be successful (well, mildly successful in my case) in online business. All it takes is a passion, some determination and a whole lot of sweat. It goes without saying though, that you also need a computer and an Internet connection of course.
Having a computer is important. The way I mentioned it above may seem like a joke, but I am serious about it. I’ve known far too many people who tried their hand in Internet marketing despite not having their own computer and the results were disastrous. True, there are some that managed to survive, but they didn’t last and success was never there. It just doesn’t make sense to get into a business that requires the Internet yet you don’t have a connection to it. Any business that isn’t looked after properly will surely fail, everyone knows that.
My own personal story, I started out doing photography for various clients. I wasn’t focused at all, doing pet photography, weddings, fashion and product shoots. I didn’t have my own website, nor did I market myself in any way. Because of this, my projects were few and far between. Now, as I learned about Internet marketing, I was told to find something I am good at and passionate about. My photography was the first thing that came to mind. But then, I needed to focus on a single field. Out of all the stuff I was doing simultaneously, I figured I was doing my best in portraiture. So that was what I chose.
So weddings and portraiture became my key services. Now, before you yell foul, I chose weddings as well since it was a form of portraiture and it was also the most lucrative among the genres of photography. Though I focused mainly on portraiture. What I did next was set up a website and made sure enough content was in it to show the world what I can do. And after that, I went on and did some SEO, or search engine optimization, as well as social media marketing as well. And after a few weeks, the volume of traffic more than doubled.
So there you have it, My own personal experience in having an online business. Now, it is service based and I do go to the field, but the way I did was through the Internet. So if you think you have what it takes to earn your fortune in Internet marketing, I say go ahead. I am by no means a genius, but I do know what I know and I stuck to it with a passion. All you need is to find your passion, stick to it, follow the rules of Internet marketing and you will reap what you sow in due time.
